GRAEAGLE — November 2, 2026. Plumas County’s public recreation guide identifies Lakes Basin near Graeagle as an alpine recreation area with over 30 miles of trails connecting lakes, campgrounds and high-country viewpoints.
Different activities share the region
The county lists hiking, mountain biking, equestrian riding, snowshoeing and Nordic skiing among the opportunities, while the Forest Service oversees many of the trails and campground facilities.
Access is seasonal
The Gold Lake Highway corridor reaches snow-prone elevations, and developed campgrounds may be inaccessible or lack facilities after early snowfall. A summer trail map does not guarantee that a road or trailhead can be reached by ordinary vehicle in November.
Rules change at trail boundaries
Most forest routes may allow several nonmotorized uses, but the Pacific Crest Trail does not permit bicycles. Visitors should check route-specific rules and active fire or weather restrictions before planning.
